Weathering steel | Weatherproof structural steel!

Weatherproof structural steel is a group of structural steels that form a weather-resistant patina by alloying small amounts of chromium, copper, nickel or phosphorus.

Weatherproof steel was first patented in 1926 by the "Vereinigten Stahlwerken AG" in Düsseldorf, produced in Dortmund and distributed worldwide.

In the US, the material was re-discovered in the early 1960s and was re-used under the trade name "COR-TEN®" or "Corten®" - and from there back to the European market.

A consistent development is Indaten® from ArcelorMittal.
